Paige Ivette Borras is a San Diego local and lifelong athlete. Before beginning her jiu-jitsu career, she dabbled in water polo, softball, and even body building by the age of 21. For several years, too, she worked in local gyms as a personal trainer helping others work towards their athletic goals.

She started training jiu-jitsu back in 2016 after being inspired to step into martial arts by female UFC legend, Ronda Rousey. Paige trained exclusively nogi jiu-jitsu with the intention of eventually fighting MMA herself, but quickly found it was not the ring that called to her, but the mats.

She dedicated herself whole-heartedly to learning and training jiu-jitsu. After earning her purple belt at the end of 2018, Paige began teaching youth jiu-jitsu classes at her academy and competing in tournaments across the country.

In the following year, she became the SOGI 2 Women’s Absolute Champion in NYC and the IBJJF Nogi Absolute World Champion in the purple belt division.

She joined us here at Legion American Jiu-Jitsu in early 2020 where she decided to start challenging herself with training more in the gi. Unsurprisingly, she took to it like a natural. At the end of that same year she won her very first gi match against a Black Belt at a Fight2Win event in Dallas and placed 2nd at the 2020 IBJJF Pan Ams Adult Female Purple Division.

Today, she is the head coach of the women’s program, she teaches women’s self-defense workshops and helps with our Kids Program.

She made her debut at black belt at the No-Gi World Championship and just narrowly missed out on gold in a tightly contested finals match.

Paige is a driven athlete and bright-spirited individual that we are grateful to have as a part of the Legion AJJ family.
