A short trip down I-15. The rare gym where your kid's class and your adult class can happen in the same trip, or back to back, instead of becoming two separate errands on different nights.
Scripps Ranch, Miramar Ranch, and Scripps Highlands residents tell us the same thing: they tried jiu-jitsu on and off elsewhere, could never make the schedule work with kids' activities, and ended up with nothing sticking. Legion was built for exactly that problem.
Kids classes run late afternoon and early evening, the same window youth sports use. Adult classes stack right after. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 5 PM parent classes happen at the same time as kids' classes.
From Lake Miramar or the Scripps Ranch Library area, it is a quick southbound trip to Miramar Road. Pomerado, Canyon Road, and Camino Ruiz also work depending on traffic.
Unlike the revolving-door feeling at large BJJ chains, our 20-coach team knows your kid's name and yours. Continuity of instruction, month after month, year after year.
Ages 4 to 5, 6 to 8, and 9 to 11 drill with peers their own size. Every youth coach has youth-specific training and the temperament to go with it.
Legion sits at 7550 Miramar Road, Suite 330, a straight shot south from Scripps Ranch neighborhoods. Two easy routes get you here.
Hop on I-15 and head south to the Miramar Road exit, then continue west for a couple of miles. Legion is on your left at 7550 Miramar Road, Suite 330.
Drive time about 10 minUse Pomerado Road or Canyon Road to get directly onto Miramar Road. From up north, take Mira Mesa Boulevard to Camino Ruiz and head west to Miramar Road.

The Miramar HQ is a purpose-built jiu-jitsu facility with room to grow into. A dedicated weight room to build the engine, an on-site recording studio for breaking down your game, and free on-site parking so the family drop-off is easy.
Legion is led by Miha Perhavec and Keenan Cornelius, backed by a full staff of full-time instructors. No revolving door. The coach who greets your kid this month is the same one next year.
Co-founder and head of the Legion program. Builds the curriculum that takes members from a first free class to a real, structured game.

Probably the best jiu-jitsu for kids in San Diego. I have had my kid there for three years. The lead instructors actually know childhood education and design classes around that.
Beautiful training room with lots of high-level athletes. There is training for all levels and all styles, and everyone is included whether you want competitive rounds or slower-paced flow.
Loving the 5-week beginner course. Every day is a new tool in the belt.
Our Kids Jiu-Jitsu program starts at age 4. Classes are age-grouped, so 4-year-olds drill with peers their own size, never with older or bigger kids.
Karate and taekwondo are striking arts taught mostly through pre-set forms. Jiu-jitsu is grappling: real-world physical control, escapes from holds, and resolving conflicts without strikes. For most kids, especially those dealing with bullying, the leverage-based approach builds confidence faster and translates more directly to real situations.
No. Kids classes are age-grouped: 4 to 5 year olds together, 6 to 8s together, 9 to 11s together. We do not put a 5-year-old across from an 11-year-old.
Adult beginners schedule a complimentary orientation with a coach, then enroll in our 5-week beginner course. The course is structured from day one so you finish able to roll safely with peers, not just survive. Over a thousand graduates and four years of refinement. Adults with prior experience can skip the orientation and book a trial class.
Your first class is free, for adults or kids, with a loaner gi in your size. Give us a call or book online and we will help your whole family get started.
