Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
This policy covers legionsandiego.com, the Legion AJJ mobile app, and the personal information Legion American Jiu-Jitsu, LLC ("Legion AJJ", "we", "us") collects when you visit the website, book an orientation, join the academy, or sign up for texts or emails. It explains what we collect, how we use it, who helps us process it, and the choices you have.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We never have, and we will not start.
Questions, requests, or concerns about this policy go to info@legionajj.com or 858-888-1815.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you book an orientation, fill out a form, join a membership, buy a product, or sign up for our newsletter, we ask for things like your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, mailing address, and emergency contact. If you pay us, our payment processor collects your card details. We do not store full card numbers on our own systems.
Information about your child. We offer a kids program. When a parent or legal guardian enrolls a child, we collect the child's name, date of birth, belt rank, attendance, and any medical or allergy notes the parent chooses to share, along with the parent's own contact and billing details. This information is collected from the parent or guardian, never from the child directly, and is used only to run the program and keep kids safe on the mat. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from anyone under 13 without a parent's involvement. A parent or guardian can review, correct, or delete their child's information at any time by contacting us.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the website, we and the service providers listed in section 3 automatically collect your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time on page, referring page, clicks, scrolling, and similar usage data, using cookies and similar technologies. Section 3 explains each tool and how to opt out.
Information from the Legion AJJ app. Members who use the app give us a selfie (face data), name, email, and phone number so coaches can recognize students and the app can sign you in. Section 5 covers the app in detail.
Photos and video at the academy. We photograph and film classes, events, and promotions at the academy for use on our website, social media, and marketing materials. Your membership agreement and liability waiver include a media release that covers this. If you or your child would prefer not to appear in marketing material, tell the front desk or email us and we will do our best to honor it. We cannot always remove people from the background of group shots already published.
2. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- book and confirm your orientation, run classes, and manage your membership;
- process payments, send receipts, and handle billing questions;
- send class schedule updates, reminders, event announcements, and, with your consent, marketing texts and emails;
- recognize students and keep the training environment safe;
- understand how people use the website so we can improve it;
- measure and improve our advertising, including showing ads to people who have visited our website;
- respond to your questions, requests, and feedback;
- comply with the law, enforce our terms, and protect our members, staff, and business.
3. Cookies, analytics, and advertising tools
These are the third-party tools currently running on legionsandiego.com. Each one acts as a service provider to us. We update this list when the tools change.
- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 load our tags and tell us how visitors use the site (pages, sessions, traffic sources, form submissions). Opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or in your Google ad settings.
- Google Ads: when you arrive from one of our Google ads, we keep the ad click ID so we can see which campaign and search term brought you, and we tell Google Ads when a booking or enrollment happens so we can measure our ads. Opt out in your Google ad settings.
- Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API (Facebook and Instagram) measure whether our ads lead to orientation bookings and let us show ads to people who have visited our website. When you book or enroll, we may send Meta hashed contact details so it can match the conversion to the ad. Manage this in your Facebook ad preferences and Off-Facebook Activity settings.
- Microsoft Clarity records anonymized session replays and heatmaps (where people click and scroll) so we can fix confusing pages. Clarity masks text you type into forms. See Microsoft's privacy statement.
- Vercel hosts the website and provides basic, cookie-free page analytics.
- GoHighLevel powers our booking forms, customer records, email, and text messaging. Text messages are delivered through its telecom partner, Twilio.
- Stripe processes card payments. Stripe collects your card details directly under its own privacy policy.
Your cookie choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some forms may not remember your details. We honor Global Privacy Control signals where our tools support them. The analytics and advertising tools above also offer their own opt-outs, linked in each entry.
4. Who we share information with
We share personal information only in these situations:
- Service providers that work on our behalf: hosting and website analytics, advertising measurement, customer records and messaging, payment processing, cloud storage, and accounting. The current providers are named in sections 3 and 5. They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- Legal requirements. If required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe in good faith it is necessary to protect the safety of a member, a child, our staff, or the public, or to protect our rights and property.
- Business transfers. If Legion AJJ is sold or merged, member information would transfer to the new owner under this same policy.
We do not share your phone number, text-message opt-in data, or consent records with any third party for their own marketing. We do not sell personal information. Sending hashed conversion data to Meta or Google, as described in section 3, may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law; you can opt out using the links in section 3 or by emailing us.
SMS and text messaging
Mobile information is never shared with third parties. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
What messages you receive – if you provide your mobile number and give consent, Legion AJJ may send you recurring text messages about class schedules and changes, beginner course start dates, appointment confirmations and reminders, event announcements, and occasional offers.
Message frequency – message frequency varies.
Message and data rates – message and data rates may apply.
How to opt out – you can cancel text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. After you reply STOP we will send one confirmation message and will not send further texts unless you opt back in by replying START. For help, reply HELP or call us at 858-888-1815.
Consent is not a condition of purchase. You are not required to agree to receive text messages in order to buy a membership, enroll in a course, or use any Legion AJJ service.
Email – you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send.
5. The Legion AJJ mobile app
Legion AJJ, LLC operates the Legion AJJ mobile app for current members.
Face data. The app collects a selfie from each member. Coaches use it to recognize a large number of students and keep the training environment safe. That is the only use of your face data. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with anyone outside Legion AJJ.
Account data. The app uses your name, email, and phone number to identify you and sign you in. These are not used for tracking.
Storage. App data is stored on Microsoft Azure, which acts as our cloud storage provider.
Retention. Face data is kept for no more than one year and is then permanently deleted. Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted on request.
Account and data deletion (iOS and Android). Email dev@legionajj.com with the subject line "App Account Deletion". We will delete your account and associated data and confirm by email.
6. How long we keep information
We keep member records for as long as you are a member and for a reasonable period afterward to handle billing questions, tax and accounting requirements, and returning members. Orientation leads who never join are kept in our customer records so we can follow up, and are deleted on request. Website analytics data is kept according to each tool's default retention period. App face data is kept for no more than one year.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access limited to staff who need it, and payment processing handled by Stripe rather than on our own systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.
8. Your choices and rights
Anyone can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about them or their child, or to stop marketing messages. Email info@legionajj.com, call 858-888-1815, or ask at the front desk. We will verify that you are who you say you are before acting, and we may keep information we need for legal, tax, or safety reasons.
California residents. Legion AJJ is a small, single-location business and may fall below the thresholds that make the California Consumer Privacy Act apply. We honor the following rights anyway: the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; the right to delete it; the right to correct it; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell; see sections 3 and 4 for sharing with advertising tools and how to opt out); and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those described here. To make a request, use the contact details above; you can also authorize someone to make a request for you. We will respond within 45 days.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We honor Global Privacy Control browser signals for the opt-out of sharing where our tools support it. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track headers, which have no agreed standard.
9. Children's privacy
Our kids program means we hold information about children, provided by their parents or guardians as described in section 1. The website and app are not designed for children to use on their own, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from a child under 13. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent's involvement, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Links to other sites
Our website links to other sites, including social media and the companies named above. Their privacy practices are their own. This policy covers only information collected by Legion AJJ.
11. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If we make a change that materially affects how we use information already collected, we will give notice on the website for at least 30 days or email members directly. Continued use of the website or app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
